Nepal Expeditions

Maryline was part of an expedition in 2017. For her 50 th birthday she reached a 17 000 ft summit in the Rolwaling region.

The following year she traveled again to Nepal for a new expedition. This time, the goal was 19 000 ft.

After sleeping in a tent at 17 000 ft and a departure in the middle of the night under extreme temperatures, Maryline suffered frosbites twice.
She stayed behind with one of the Nepalese Sherpas while the expedition continued.

Two hours after the departure Maryline felt in a crevasse. Miraculously she was stopped by something inside that injured her left knee.
She decided to continue despite the injury but after few hours of extreme efforts and one climb away from the summit she decided to stop.

The return to the camp at 16 000 ft felt like a slow torture. No helicopter could land at this altitude. In the morning she took the safe decision to fly back by helicopter and end her expedition. Back in the USA, she could not straighten her knee and was diagnosed with a MLC (Medial Collateral Ligament) tear level 2 in her left knee.
