Two year ago, I contracted the Guillain-Barre syndrome, an acute and rapidly progressive inflammation of nerves that causes loss of sensation and muscle weakness. The disease affects peripheral nerves, nerve roots, and cranial nerves. While usually reversible, in severe cases it can cause prolonged paralysis and require ventilator support and sometimes leave permanent neurological deficits.

At first, just after contracting the disease, I would lose balance all the time when walking; I had constant lower back and hip pain among others issues.

Since beginning Maryline’s practice a year ago, Kaiut yoga helped me manage the pain, and improve my state of calmness by addressing the syndrome’s neurological issues.

I came to one of Maryline’s private classes with a level of pain at about a 3 in my neck and lower back, and during the class it dropped to a level 1 before it vanished at the end of the class.

What is remarkable is that I have gained incredible knowledge about my own body during this year, and am now able to feel inner sensations that require a deep mind-body connection, e.g., when I fold forward I am able to feel my abdominal muscles engaging, addressing the hip girdle.

My progress has been amazing, and I encourage others to try Maryline’s classes.

“Before taking Maryline’s Kaiut yoga class I had pain - a burning pain - above my glut and below my waist. I truly believe that the sukhasana pose especially when bending forward changed my ability to train for this marathon. Within two weeks after starting her class (4 classes) the pain was gone after my runs. Also, Baddha Konasana is a favorite pose and gives me great relief for my tight muscles the days after running.

I was afraid my body would not hold up for a marathon but it it is holding up and I truly give thanks to this class and Maryline’s approach. Life changing!

The practice also provides a state of meditation while holding each pose. Finding the ability to quiet the mind and body when holding a pose for 20, 30, 60 seconds or longer, which creates a stillness and quietness, is quite wonderful . Also, the final relaxation at the end Savasana is pure bliss. The poses help me to reach a meditative feel helping my mind, to not anticipate but instead appreciate the moment I am in.

I have often tried to meditate before or after work, and have had some limited success. I enjoy to get this calm and stillness into my life through this class two times a week.”

My name is Devin and I am 51 years old. I am a regular student in Maryline's Kauit Yoga on-line classes. When I started this practice, I had pretty intense tendinitis in my rotator cuff and had a lot of stiffness in the hips’ area. Those injuries prevented me from enjoying the practice of basketball and tennis, and I resigned myself to give up on my favorite sports earlier than I wanted to.

When I started this practice, I had pretty intense tendinitis in my rotator cuff and had a lot of stiffness in the hips’ area. Those injuries prevented me from enjoying the practice of basketball and tennis, and I resigned myself to give up on my favorite sports earlier than I wanted to.

Maryline became aware of my shoulder and lower back issues during class in certain poses. She advised me to take my time and to trust my regular practice. Through her guidance on the mat and with the help of extra poses she gave me to do on my own, she helped me to resolve these issues over time.

After two months, I started to see some improvement, and now, after seven months, my shoulders are much stronger and freed from the tendinitis. I can hit a high quality serve again in tennis. I can throw the football and do pushups like I did twenty years ago. I have experienced the same improvement in the lower back and hip area.

Before practicing Kaiut yoga, I would experience lower back and hamstring soreness after doing squats, and I had difficulty reaching for low shots in tennis. My lateral movement has improved and today I can reach for low shots without any discomfort. I feel agile again and I'm moving on the court like I did in my 30s. Most importantly, I'm pain free and my body feels more protected against injuries.

The regular practice of Kaiut Yoga has been fundamental in the improvement of my body’s mobility. Maryline’s teaching approach is unique. She does a masterful job of bringing a nurturing effect to the class, while at the same time she manages to help us to focus on reaching our optimum in each pose.

She never encourages us to go too far, instead, she creates a safe environment where we are all encouraged to move at our own pace and avoid compliancy. As a result, I can realize how much my body has changed and gained mobility since I started my regular practice. Not to mention the gift to remain injury free.

Last November a friend and I were lamenting how 20 years of high impact aerobics, step aerobics and weight training had taken it’s toll on our bodies. She mentioned that her personal trainer had recommended a yoga class for her shoulder injury from a skiing accident. I decided to give it a try! I went to My first Kaiut yoga class the next weekend with Maryline as the instructor. I knew after the first class that this is what my body needed, in fact I mentioned to my friend that if we had found Kaiut yoga 20 years ago, we probably would not have all the aches and pains we now felt. I had given up my Sunday morning 5 mile walks with friends due to hip pain. I broke my ankle 2 years ago and it popped when I would go up and down the stairs. And my knees? Never mind about my knees. Fast forward 6 months and I feel like I have a new lease on life. Due to the Corona virus and the magic of virtual classes, I have been taking Maryline’s class 3 times a week since the online classes started. (I live 40 minutes away from the studio). My ankles no longer pop going up and down stairs! I squatted down in the grocery store to get something off the bottom shelf! And I am walking 3 miles every day! (Working back up to 5). Maryline has such a calming voice and attention to detail as she leads you through the class. She makes it easy for even newbies to follow along because she will show you how to do the pose correctly. I cannot thank my friend enough for introducing me to Kaiut and Maryline’s class. It is a life changer for me and I recommend it to everyone I know!

When Maryline invited me to her Kaiut yoga class for the first time, I was not intending to start a regular practice. We had only met on Instagram, but she offered my first class free to try it out. I accepted, and when Maryline introduced me to the class, one of her students warned me, ‘be careful — it’s addicting!’

I had practiced yoga with different instructors across several cities & states, but nothing like Kaiut. I was intrigued how such simple poses and easy movements could greatly affect the body and bring to light my problem areas. I started attending 2 days a week, then 3. Maryline also did a 1-1 therapeutic private session (2 hours) where we worked on specific areas so she could understand how my body was moving and how she could better help.

My neck and back soreness has greatly subsided, and my hip is already opening up much more (pictured). For the first few weeks, I could not extend my arms comfortably in front of my legs during sukhasana because of my right knee/leg, but now I can. I am also making progress on a few other areas.

Kaiut is a very restorative yoga practice, and after noticing how quickly my body was benefiting, I knew I had to keep coming back. Thank you, Maryline for your help. My body feels alive and some mobility in my body has already been restored.’’

I had an arthroscopic surgery 25 years ago and have chronic arthritis in both knees. I’ve been treated for lower back pain and numerous other common sporting injuries. In the past, I took Pilates and yoga classes and enjoyed them—but recently, my practice has been irregular.

As a fellow athlete, I have known Maryline Roux since 2007. We competed together in many events, as teammates. Recently, Maryline recognized that she could help me through her knowledge of Kaiut Yoga; she invited me to take 4 trial classes.

Right after the first class, my body felt very good and much looser than usual. I discovered that I was waking up in the mornings without feeling my typical stiffness. My recent hamstring, hip and glute pain disappeared and I noticed an improvement with the level of pain in my knee. In fact, Maryline's Kaiut yoga classes addressed all sorts of niggles in my body!

Maryline does a wonderful job teaching her classes online. She explains the poses slowly and clearly and offers modifications and adjustments, as needed. Her voice is so soothing and calm, that my dogs felt asleep during her classes. I, too, find it easy to reach a meditative state. In this short amount of time, I got hooked on her classes. I am so grateful for the improvements I made and how I feel overall. I am very enthusiastic to share this testimony and hope that others athletes will benefit from Maryline's teaching as well.

My first race, after four classes of Kaiut Yoga with Maryline was on 4/3/21 and brought good results. I ran pain free and I was able to push myself.

I have had several yoga practices over the years. My participation has included CorePower, Vinyasa, Flow, Hot, and Yin. After a few significant orthopedic injuries in which I could no longer use my shoulder properly I was restricted in many poses. After that I focused on weight lifting and other forms of exercise and relaxation.

After a few significant orthopedic injuries in which I could no longer use my shoulder properly I was restricted in many poses. After that I focused on weight lifting and other forms of exercise and relaxation. Last July a friend of mine who happens to be a personal trainer, persuaded me to take my first Kauit class. I would say that within the first three classes I was convinced that this would be a great way to practice yoga again, to improve my injuries, and to feel great. I started doing Kauit yoga 3 to 5 times a week, and participated in a retreat. I was hooked! Last fall I discovered Maryline’s classes. I have particularly enjoyed her style of teaching, her calming and encouraging nature and I always feel a very deep sense of well-being in her class. I am so happy that Maryline is able to teach classes more than once a week. Thank you Maryline, for keeping me grounded, happy, and healthy.

One morning, in December 2021, my yoga student Tori texted me this: “I want to get back to 3 days of yoga a week. My body is regressing and I’m having new pains come up from health issues.” This is one of the best testimonies I ever received – Not because of her praise for my teachings but because she has understood in depth the meaning of the Kaiut method. She has been able to realize on her own the difference between a consistent practice and a more sporadic one. Her testimony is precious because when you get that kind of feedback from a student after not quite a year of practice shows her degree of understanding of the method.

“I’ve been told that regular practice of Kaiut yoga can extend one’s life by 10 years,” she said. “I started practicing Kaiut with Marylineanna 10 months ago, in February 2021, 2 months after I ‘healed’ from COVID-19, still experiencing body pains & still in the throes of a deep depression. When I told Maryline I was feeling emotional, she invited me to experience her online class.

I immediately felt RELEASE — both physical & mental — after each 60-minute practice. The best part is that it compounds.

Years of body pains released. Mental anguish released. Muscle restrictions released. Repressed tears released. Unknown injuries released. Body weight in pounds released. Breathing restrictions released. Range of motion released. Built-up toxins released. And uncovering a new layer & version of each to continue working through every time. After only 10 months, all I can think is, damn, no wonder this adds years to your life.

Thank you, Maryline, for your teachings and for holding this space for me to evolve.”

I met Maryline on the track at one of our National meets over 15 years ago and she always impressed me with her elegance and her strength and speed . We are both of French heritage so that was an instant connection .

We have competed throughout the years together until a non running related knee injury took me down. I needed to have a major surgery: a high tibial osteotomy. After the surgery, I could not walk for close to a year . I gradually started running again but lost a lot of flexion and mobility in my knees. I could not walk down stairs forward and have walked with a limp .

I started Maryline’s athletes KAiut yoga classes over a month ago and I am able to now walk down the stairs forward and I’m walking with less of a limp. I feel more flexible and my stride is more open now with the increased opening of my hips which were so tight . It is such a restorative practice and is what I needed to heal from my traumatic injuries . It works and I believe that if you add these classes to your regimen, you will see dramatic results .

Maryline is a great teacher— she is calm and very positive and puts a lot of effort into her classes. I am very grateful that I joined her athlete classes and look forward to more progress with my flexibility .

“I started practicing Kaiut yoga about a year ago. I participate in many other fitness and sports activities, but was new to yoga. I quickly realized that Kaiut yoga was something that my body desperately needed. I was fairly strong, but my joints were not very flexible, particularly my knees. In the beginning, when I would attempt the pose of being in a kneeling position and trying to sit back on my feet, fear would radiate through my entire body. I could not imagine bending my knees like that. Maryline would always help me modify that position, and continued to encourage me to slowly nudge a little deeper. In her soothing relaxing voice, she would say “your knees are meant to bend.” A few months later, in the beginning of December, I accomplished the pose. I could completely bend my knees without fear or pain. Later that month, I was skiing on Christmas Eve, and found myself in a tough spot, too close to trees, and my right ski hit a tree. I went down with one knee bent in one direction and the other knee bent in the opposite direction. Fear and pain raced through my entire body, and then I heard Maryline’s voice in my head “your knees are meant to bend,” and I suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of peace and calm that carried me through the next several hours. I ended up tearing my ACL, MCL and Meniscus in my left knee. During this time, before and after surgery, I am so grateful that I have been able to continue practicing Kaiut yoga. It has helped me so much with my physical recovery and my mental well being.”

I love my yoga classes with Maryline because they go beyond just yoga. Through her words and calm tone of voice she directs us towards how our body is feeling and towards that space in between the poses. She dedicates time to check how each of us is doing, which makes you feel that you are sharing this moment with other people and at the same time that every single person is being taken care of in the same way.

Something I value a lot is her focus on taking time changing from one pose to the other and to reach “our optimum, not our maximum”. In a world where being fast and being the best seems to be the objective, I find it relieving that she makes a constant reminder in her classes to slow down and honour our needs, regardless of what they are. Her classes are free of judgement and filled with care towards our well-being and growth, no matter when or in which way that happens. All of this she does with her special energy, which those who go to her classes know how unique it is and how it makes her classes not just yoga classes, but Maryline’s yoga classes.
